Body-Centered Counseling
Carla is trained in two types of body-centered counseling: Hakomi, and Mindful Awareness in Body-Oriented Therapy (MABT).
Hakomi is a form of counseling focused through the body and practiced with a conscious, loving presence. The Hakomi techniques are the framework used to develop sensory and emotional awareness, and to reveal the contents of core beliefs.
Mindful Awareness in Body-Oriented Therapy (MABT) was developed as a research protocol by Cynthia Price, PhD, based on 20 years of clinical practice as a body-oriented therapist. MABT combines touch-based and mind-body approaches to teach body awareness and self-care skills.
